The target group for Rigger Assessment are personnel that wish to become LEEA Accredited competent riggers - having successfully completed the Rigger Initial Training or possess sufficient and relevant work experience to be eligible for the Rigger assessment.

What certificate will i receive?

Upon successful completion of the course learners will be awarded with a LEEA Accredited Certificate, valid for 2 years.

Certificates can be verified through our website or through the LEEA website.

What can the course lead to?

Following the Rigger Assessment, candidates can progress to attend LEEA Rigging Supervisor training.

LEEA Accredited training is a global training standard for the lifting sector. Certification is valid globally, in industries such as construction and renewables and, in combination with other certificated training, can lead to a number of lifting related roles.

What is the duration of the course?

The optimum ‘contact time’ for this assessment is seen as 16 hours over 2 days.

Optimum contact time is based on the maximum number of learners attending.

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates must possess:

Option 1

(a) A valid LEEA Rigging and Lifting certificate; or

(b) A formal letter from a current or former employer confirming the candidate has sufficient workplace experience to progress to assessment. Self-employed candidates can self-certify.

Option 2

(d) A valid, or expired LEEA Rigger Assessment. Expired certificates must have been valid in the last 30 months.

Option 3

(e) Evidence that they have been assessed as competent and have achieved an equivalent qualification/certification within the previous 30 months.

Medical Requirements

Training contains physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such training must be medically fit and capable of participating fully. Delegates must either:

a. Possess an employing company approved medical certificate equivalent to an offshore medical certificate; or

b. Undergo medical screening by completing an appropriate medical screening form provided by GSS.

The aim and objectives of the Rigger Assessment are to establish that the learner has the required underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills to fulfill the role of Rigger safely and effectively.

How is the course assessed?

Theory Assessment

Candidates will be required to undertake a written knowledge assessment test.

The knowledge assessment is a ‘closed book’ format. Candidates must achieve a pass mark of 80% or higher of the criteria to successfully complete the knowledge assessment.

Practical Assessment

Each candidate will be expected to lead two lifting operations and assist with two lifting operations. Each lifting operation should be of approximately one and a half hours duration and include rigging activities.

The successful candidate i.e. the candidate that fully meets the knowledge and practical assessment / reassessment standard will then be deemed competent to undertake Rigger operations in the workplace.
