Course Description

The target group for Rigger Competence Assessment are personnel that wish to become OPITO-certified competent riggers - having successfully completed the OPITO Rigger Initial Training Standard and Rigger Workplace Experience Logbook or possess sufficient and relevant work experience to be eligible for the OPITO Rigger Competence assessment.

N.B. No training is provided in the assessment. Candidates who feel they require additional training should contact us to discuss your options.

Why choose this course?

Internationally recognized certification: The OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment is globally recognized and adhered to by many offshore operators and contracting companies. This certification enhances your competency in handling rigging and lifting operations in the offshore oil and gas industry, as well as in any industry where rigging operations are undertaken, thus increasing your credibility with employers around the world. The assessment is designed to establish that delegates have the required knowledge, understanding, and practical skills to fulfill the role of rigger safely and effectively. Upon successful completion, delegates will be awarded an OPITO-approved Rigger Competence Assessment certificate, which is valid for 2 years

Opportunities to work abroad: The OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment, being internationally recognized, provides ample opportunities for employment overseas. Rigging is an essential offshore skill and competent riggers are often in high demand. Furthermore, OPITO Rigger qualifications are also valid for the wind industry as the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) does not currently have a recognized standard in rigging, thus expanding your potential job horizons to industries beyond oil and gas, like renewable energy. This makes you a more attractive candidate for employers, offering job security rather than just a higher salary.

Job prospects from this training: Rigger Competence Assessment could be particularly relevant for positions involved with the assembly, maintenance, and movement of heavy loads, particularly in offshore environments. This would include, but not necessarily be limited to, roles such as:

Riggers
Offshore Oil and Gas Workers
Wind Industry Workers
Multitasking Roles (e.g., Rigger-Banksman and Slinger, Rigger-Welder, Rigger-Diver)
