Course Description
This online self-paced OPITO Assessor Vocational Qualification is a comprehensive training program that qualifies individuals as an Assessor. This qualification is suitable for individuals who wish to go on to assess vocational competence in both workplace and classroom settings across various sectors, like apprenticeships, NVQs, and other vocational programs.
What certificate will i receive?
Successful candidates will be awarded an OPITO and Scottish Qualifications Credit Framework Level 8 Vocational Assessor Qualification.
OPITO Qualifications can be verified using the QR Code on the certificate.
What is the duration of the course?
This is a self-paced online study program that can be completed at your own pace. Learners have a maximum of 12 months to complete the training.
The total qualification time is expected to take around 120 hours.
What are the entry requirements?
Candidates must hold the OPITO Approved - Assessor Initial Training Certificate. This course includes this training, and if you already hold this certificate, please contact our team to apply for Recognised Prior Learning and a pricing discount.
Candidates MUST have access to two candidates and the ability to assess them in the workplace.

What does the course cover?
There are two parts to the OPITO Assessor Vocational Qualification:
- Part 1: OGOS – SQ01 OPITO Assessor (9055 Assessor Initial Training
- Part 2: OGOS – SQ02 OPITO Assessor Workplace Evidence
The agenda for the OPITO Approved Assessor Initial Training:
- Introduction to Assessment
- The principles of competence assessment, including individual roles and responsibilities
- Evidence Sources - Planning and carrying out the Assessment - Assessment Planning
- Evidence Gathering and Evaluation and Assessment Decisions
- Collecting and Evaluating Evidence and Making the Assessment Decision
- Feedback and Record Keeping -
- Recording Assessment Decisions
- Providing Feedback
Following completion of Part 1, Candidates will complete Part 2. the OPITO Assessor Workplace Evidence, the agenda for thsi is:
- Workplace Evidence Requirements
- Prepare and develop two separate assessment plans for two separate candidates (4 in total)
- Gather assessment records
- Accurately Record Feedback
- Internal Verification Process
- Contribute to the quality assurance process
How is the course assessed?
The qualification consists of the two mandatory units below, which must be successfully completed
Part 1: OGOS – SQ01 OPITO Assessor (9055 Assessor Initial Training)
Assessed via a range of submitted written assignements, products of work, and video role play submissions.
Part 2: OGOS – SQ02 OPITO Assessor Workplace Evidence
Assessed via submission of a portfolio of evidence collected when assessing two candidates in the workplace.
