Course Description
This 1-day eLearning course is designed for Non-Electrician staff and provides information on electrical legislation applicable to Oil and Gas company assets, general concepts of electrical safety, voltage ranges, risks, electrical authorization, means or protection, documentation and procedures to follow in the event of a fire.
Why choose this course?
Who is the course for?
This course is for any person responsible for carrying out electrical operations, works, interventions, tests, measurements, or other operations on electrical installations in LV/MV.
What certificate will i receive?
North Oil Company certificate is valid for 2 years.
What can the course lead to?
This course is a stand-alone course designed for those already involved in carrying out electrical operations, works, interventions, tests, measurements, or other operations on electrical installations in LV/MV.
What is the duration of the course?
Theoretical part in person (1 day)
What are the entry requirements?
Learners must be able to:
- differentiate between electrical quantities, such as current, voltage, resistance, power, AC and DC
- Identify protective devices against direct and indirect contact,
- Identify electrical equipment in its environment (function: separation, protection, control, etc. .),
- Read an electrical diagram and recognize equipment from their symbols
What does the course cover?
Electrical operations in low and high voltage (HTA) in safety
Course Summary
Theoretical
- The 12 essential points for controlling electrical risk
- Notions on basic quantities (physical quantities in electricity (voltage, current, resistance, power, AC, DC), low electrical networks voltage (single-phase, three-phase, protective conductor), from production to use (central, photovoltaic, wind turbine, generator, high-voltage transmission, transformer station, etc.)
- Dangers of electricity, electrical risks (analysis of risks and accidents), electrification mechanisms (electrocution, electrification, dangerous voltage and current thresholds), short-circuit, dangerous voltage and current thresholds, causes of accidents , (human and material factors)
- Electrical equipment (Circuit breaker - Disconnector - Switch - Differential - Fuse)
- The electrical authorization symbols (The different levels of authorization, the different types of operations, the supervision chain)
- Means of Collective and Individual Protection ( the gradation of means of protection, electrical lockout, marking of the work area, insulating sheets, insulating gloves: latex or composite, face shield, insulating mat)
- Lockout (the different lockout stages, one-step lockout, 2-step lockout, necessary equipment, best practices)
- Applicable documents (Title of authorization - Certificate of consignment - Authorization to work - Notice of end of work - Declaration of project of work) - Regulations in force (Decree 2010-1118 and related decrees, standard NF C18-510 )
- Operations on High Voltage (MV) installations (equipment and safety equipment - MV apparatus - Servo-controls - Operation sheets - stages of consignment)
Optional Practical
During Practical Work (in the establishment trainee, or if this is not possible on the site), trainees will be assessed on the following knowledge and skills:
- Identification of LV/MV works or LV/MV installations and the environmental zones covered by the work (voltage area, environment zone, reserved premises, etc.)
- Risk assessment for a given situation and corresponding to the authorizations targeted
- Behavior appropriate to the situation and compliance with safety requirements
- Identification, verification and use of Collective and Individual Protection Means (insulating gloves, face shield, beaconing, etc.)
- Elimination of the risk of the presence of voltage (topping, dressing, ...)
- Identification of the different actors (electrical operations manager, consignment manager, works manager, performer, ...)
- Exchanges with the different actors
- Realization of a BT/MV consignment in 1 and 2 stages
- Drafting and use of the various documents (consignment certificate, work authorization, end of work notice, ...)
- Identification, verification and use of equipment and tools in an electrical environment
- Preparation, organization, delimitation and signaling of the work and intervention area
- Performing work off LV/MV voltage with or without the presence of bare live parts
- Respect and enforce safety instructions, the work area
-Carrying out LV troubleshooting, measurement, testing, connection and disconnection operations in the presence of voltage
How is the course assessed?
Theoretical learning is assessed via interactive questions as the course progresses.
